“Taganrog Civil Engineering and Mode of Life” Museum / Sharonov’s House
The museum exposition presents peculiarities of Taganrog architecture, and displays unique furniture and applied art items of the 18th-20th century, reflecting Taganrog citizens’ mode of life, habits and ways, constituting a part of Russian national culture.
A.A. Durov’s Museum
The house-museum of the famous circus animal-trainer A.A. Durov was established in December 1988, in the building, erected in 1900 in the “art nouveau” style.
Azov Museum of Local Lore
The Azov Museum of Local Lore is a cultural, historical, social center, pride of the town of Azov, exhibiting a rich collection of the Don Cossacks history items.
Batayskiy Historical Museum
The Bataysk Historical Museum was founded owing to the active support from all the local enterprises. The Museum grand opening took place in April 22, 1979. The modern two-storey Museum building is situated in one of the most picturesque parts of Bataysk – the culture and recreation park, one of the best parks in Rostov region. Initially, the Museum was entitled the Museum of revolutionary, military and labor fame.
Chekhov’s Museum of Literature
A.P. Chekhov’s Museum of Literature at Oktyabrskaya st. 9, is situated at the building of the former boys’ classic gymnasium, one of the oldest educational institutions in Russia. The building is the historic and architectural monument of the first half of the 19th century. The building was erected in 1843, by the architect Boffo project, in the Russian provincial classicism style.
Ecological and Historical Museum of Volgodonsk
The museum complex comprise three branches, two museum buildings with 12 exposition halls in the center of Volgodonsk and a separate ethnography complex “Cossack traditional home of the 19th century” with the yard, located at village Krasnoyarskaya (within the town territory). The Museum of the Don land folklore, arts and crafts history was opened on the complex grounds, September 19, 2003.
Historic Museum of Local Lore / N.D. Alferaki’s Palace
The museum collection features natural science materials, archeological collections – Scythian and Polovtsian stone sculptures; domestic and ethnography items, ancient furniture, paintings, applied art articles of the 18th - 20th century, etc.
I.I. Krylov’s Museum
Ivan Ivanovich Krylov (1860 - 1936) was born in the Don Army region village Elizavetinskaya, in a Don Cossack's family, he studied at the Novocherkassk Platov's Gymnasium, and graduated from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Art in 1887.
M.B. Grekov’s Museum
The memorial M.B. Grekov’s house museum, dedicated to the founding father of Soviet military theme and panoramic painting, was opened in Novocherkassk in 1957. The memorial comprises the main building, where the painter lived, an outhouse and a small fruit and flower garden.
Memorial Museum of the remarkable Armenian painter M.S. Saryan
The Memorial Museum of the remarkable Armenian painter M.S. Saryan is located at the village Chkalova. The painter spent here his childhood.
Military Recruiting-office Museum of Fame
The community museum of military fame was established at the Novocherkassk recruiting-office since 1966. The museum grand opening took place November 4, 1968. The museum of military fame owns several exhibition halls and a lection hall for 70 people.
Museum “Chekhov’s House”
The outhouse in the back of the yard at Chekhov's street (former Kupecheskaya, Politseiskaya streets) was build in the middle of the 19th century of pise-walled brick, was later on plastered and whitened. The house area is 30,5 m2. The house and grounds belonged to merchant A. Gnutov in 1860, to bourgeois F. Kovalenkova in 1880, to bourgeois V. Kovalenko from 1898-1915 .
Museum “The Chekhovs' Shop”
The memorial museum “The Chekhovs’ Shop”, is situated in a house, built in the 1840th, at Alexandrovskaya street, 100. The building formerly belonged to Taganrog merchant I. Moiseev. From 1869 to 1874, the house was rented by the Chekhovs family.
Museum of Applied Arts and Folklore in Kamensk
The museum of applied arts and folklore in Kamensk is the only regional museum of such kind. The museum fund contains over 23 thousand exhibition units. One of the most valuable parts of the display is the Don Cossack folklore collection.
Museum of Local Lore in Kamensk
Museum of local lore in Kamensk was founded in 1969, by the initiative of the local war and labor veterans. The museum is located in the old two-storey building, the architectural monument.

The Museum of Modern Pictorial Arts at Dmitrovskaya st. grand opening on February 24, 2005, was a significant event in the city cultural life.
Museum of Russian writer Vitaliy Alexandrovich Zakrutkin
The famous Don land writer Vitaliy Alexandrovich Zakrutkin worked and lived in village Kochetovskaya. That was the place where he created remarkable, spiritually elevated and enriched works: “Mother of Humanity”, “Floating Stanitsa”, “World Creation”, “Mother Soil”, “Azure Color”, etc.
Museum of the Don Chemical education Center Materials
Museum of the Don Chemical education Center Materials (DCEC) was established in 2005, in aims of natural science education promotion, adequate educational environment creation, and preservation of history in material study innovations and discoveries.
Museum of the Don Coal Mining Industry
The merchant Paramonov is still a legendary figure in Rostov region. He was a Cossack merchant, large shipping enterprise owner, proprietor of one of the most prosperous Don land wheat trades, mines; a millionaire, a famous philanthropist and an active social activist.
Oblivskiy Museum of Local Lore
The Oblivskiy Museum of local lore is rather new. It was founded in 1994 on the basis of the school museum, located at secondary school #2, established by V.F. Avsetzina. Several displays from the school museum were presented to the new district museum in 1994.
